Course Title/s:

ABC Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice

Target Group:

The Level 2 Certificate is aimed at staff with experience as youth workers but do not hold a recognised qualification. 

Course Information:

The course has been designed to meet the set National Occupational Standards and to enhance the skills, knowledge and overall performance of candidates through real work activities.

It provides people engaged in youth work at a face to face level with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification. 

Course Content:

Candidates must achieve a minimum of 23 credits. 

17 credits must come from the Mandatory Units, 6 credits from the Optional Units.

 

Mandatory Unit:

• Understanding youth work principles and practices. (3 credits)

• Safeguarding young people in a youth work setting. (4 credits)

• Youth work principles, knowledge and skills in work-based practice. (7 credits)

• Support the provision of information and advice to young people. (3 credits)

 

A list of some of the Optional Units:

• Support young people’s play and leisure (3 credits)

• Support young people with disabilities and SEN (4 credits)

• Understand partnership working in services for young people (2 credits)

• Contribute to the support of positive environments for young people (3 credits)

• Safeguard the welfare of young people (3 credits)

• Working together for the benefit of young people (2 credits)

• Contribute to young people’s health and safety (3 credits)

• Designing and delivering a programme of peer education activities (3 credits)

• Reviewing and sharing learning from peer education activities (1 credit)

• Dealing with challenging behaviour within peer activities (1 credit)

• Designing, creating and reviewing learning resources for peer activities (1 credit)

• Developing communication skills within peer activities (1 credit)

• Working with peers in a group (1 credit)

• Working with peers in one to one situations (1 credit)

• Contribute to the support of positive environments for young people (3 credits)
